XP generation

Ok xp comes in a couple of flavours.
Regular xp which you get from slayage of monsters etc.
Vassel xp which is what is passed up to you (This is its own flavour hence why you can't get rid of viate with vassel xp)
Character xp which you get from performing feats/skill checks.
Only Regular xp, and vassel xp factor into any xp you pass on up.
Both have seperate formulas for passing up to your patron. Vassel xp gets passed up much differently than regular xp.
Charcater xp's where never meant to be a major source of xps for characters, more of a something extra. Hence the reason why it is not factored into the allegiance system.
When you macro you are basically using Character xps' to level. Due to a major anomoly with the magic system, this is very easy and safe to do. a 1-3 (casting spell levels 1-3) macro nets around 20k per hour, a 2-4 equals 50k per hour and a 2-5 equals 80k per hour. A particularly hard and expensive magic macro can net you up to 240-250k per hour but it is only possible at high levels and principle provides xps directly into your magic defense. To be truefully its not very feasible.
The one side effect of macroing is 90% of your xp is directly spent into the skills you are using. Hence you can quickly raise your skills in such things as Life, Creature, Item, Mana Conversion and Magic Defense. However you have little unspent xps (you do generate some, approximately 10% - and this is classed as regular xp's and does form part of the alliegance system) Hence macro characters have great skills but poor stats. This is quickly fixed by taken a quick couple of hour hunt with your freashly decanted character to spend xp's into your stats and become more 'regular'
I recently created a couple of buff mules, for buffing other characters and in order to twink any future rerolls (I have 2 accounts and 2 computers which will make this task nice and handy) It took approximately 2-2.5 days to get them up to around 25th level, where they are casting 5th level spells easily. There life and creature skills cost around 60k per point to raise, there focus and self and 4k per point.
As to the whole point of this post, they have past up around 30k of xp out of a total of almost 3 million.
Leadership :
Each vassel you have gains you a 7.5% bonus - to your skill. The more vassels that you have the merrier you will be. (Max of this bonus is 90% which is having 12 vassels.)
There for a leader with 100 leadership and 12 vassels has a value of leader ship of 190 (100 + 100 * 90%).
A furthur bonus to leadership is time dependant on the basis of 1% per 12 hours up to a maximum of 10%. this is a mean calculation and is based on the average of all current vassels.
Golden rule : the more vassels you have the higher your effective Leadership and hence the greater the xp you will draw from the xp that your vassel passes up to you.
Loyalty :
Your efective loyalty skill is modified by the amount of online time you spent sworn to somebody. the bonus is 1% per 2.4 hours up to a max of 100%.
So if your loyalty is 100 initially on swearing you are considered to have a loyalty skill of 100, at 24 hours you have a loyalty of 110 at 240 hours you have an effective loyalty skill of 200.
What is sent up :
A percentage of 8.9% up (at 175 loyalty skill its around 15%) of the regular xp's earnt is passed up to your patron (in lumps which was designed to reduce maintaince and sever load) For practical purposes it would hard to see passing up anymore than 25% due to the extreamly high loyalty skill that would be required though this is achievable thanks to the time bonus (210 loyalty and remaining online 240+ hours = 420 Loyalty skill). [Confirmed by Boccob/Insane Kitty]
What is recievied :
A patron recieves between 68% and 125% (max) of the xp points recieved from a vassel. To gain the full benefit of Leadership you need 235 Leadership. There is some question whether this is strictly accurate and whether to gain 125% you really need 470 Leadership (12 vassels + 120 hours meantime of them being sworn to you) Personally I think this is correct as otherwise full leadership benefit would be occuring at 117 base leadership skill (with 12 vassels and 120+ meantime hours)
Other Factors :
Vassel xp does not reduce viate.
A Patron passes onto his patron a percentage of xp that is past up to him from his vassels based on his loyalty skill. this percentage is in the range of 45% - 75%
Quick summary :
Rank 3 Person
|
Passes up to 45% - 75% of the END xp that is recieved from vassels (The Rank 1's in this example)
Passes up 8.9% to maybe as much as 25% of thier regular xp
|
Rank 2 Person (draws between 68% - 125 % of the xp recieved)
|
Passes up 8.9% to maybe as much as 25% of their regular xp
|
Rank 1 Person
It is therefore easy to see :
That xp directly spent into skills through skill checks does not form part of the alliegance xp system. whether it be from macroinging or those times that your weapon or defense skill gets increased on a successful check.
Roughly speaking an average situation between a vassel and a patron, a vassel passes up roughly 10% of their xp (Given average scores and situation and not of one extreame or the other.) Therefore a character that has earned 3,000,000 xp killing monsters would pass up to their patron around 300,000 xp. A macro charcter in the same boat would have 3,000,000 xp of which 2,700,000 would be direct spent on skills leaving on 300,000 regular xp of which 30,000 xp would be past up to the patron.
Having a character who has fought their way up to this level and one that macroed up to this level I have two characters who have actually done this.
My dagger man has passed up 300,000 xp while my macro mage only 30,000 xp dispite both having earned 3,000,000 xp total.
I hope this is informative to some people.
Personally I be surprised if anybody managed to read all this, it is rather long. Post a message at the end, if you made it ;-)
